Reconstructing Providence
A radio documentary made in 2004 by
Robin Amer, about mill buildings, development,
adaptive reuse, and gentrification in Providence, RI. It's about an hour long.
There's a beautiful score written by Alec K. Redfearn, and performed by him, Margie Wienck and Olivia Geiger.
It documents a particularly volatile time in the history of re-development in Providence — when many people were actively involved in advocating for projects that would use the city's heritage to its full public good. . . . at the same moment as other people were seeing lots of empty (or almost-empty) space available for the taking, and huge profits to be made from it.
I made this poster and
a postcard to promote the documentary's premiere.
Jeffrey Alexander and Miriam Goldberg of Secret Eye records turned my prints and
preliminary drawings into awesome designs for the cover and interior of the packaging, as well
as the cd itself.
There are a bunch of copies available.

The interior:
my artwork is on the cd itself;
on the foldout card, there's a 'brain
map' made by Robin while she was planning the documentary.
